Born in the East End of London to Trinidadian and Italian parents, director Cassius Matthias began his career as a painter at St. Martins School of Art where he graduated with a BA (Hons) Degree in Fine Art Film and Video.

After graduating, Matthias spent his early years in the film business working alongside some of Britain's most renowned film makers including veteran producer Derek Granger, Oscar winning screenwriter Mark Peploe, award-winning writer-director Charles Sturridge and the late Anthony Minghella.
Since becoming a director in his own right, Matthias has made TRENT 2 RENT and BUCCO BLANCO - both produced by his fledgling production company Zoom Films.
Matthias is now in pre-production for his latest short, YARDS FROM HOME, while his first feature script ANGERLAND, a coming of age indie project, is in development.
